Technology Integration

For any questions related to technology integration, please contact Brian van den Heuvel, Coordinator, 902-625-7083.

Technology integration is the use of technology resources -- computers, chrome books, iPads, mobile devices, software applications, the Internet, etc. -- in daily classroom practices.  Successful technology integration is achieved when the use of technology is:

  • Routine and transparent;

  • Accessible and readily available for the task at hand; and

  • Supporting the curricular goals, and helping the students to effectively reach their goals.

When technology integration is at its best, a child or a teacher does not stop to think that they are using a technology tool -- it is second nature. And students are often more actively engaged in projects when technology tools are a seamless part of the learning process.

The SRCE uses a variety of approved tools and resources to help teachers integrate technology in the Public Schools Program and curriculum in order to maximize student learning, experience, and engagement.

P-6 Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) refers to the tools used to create, store, retrieve, and disseminate information: data and information systems; networks; interactive telecommunications systems; curriculum software and apps; and some forms of assistive technology.

ICT is integrated within inclusive classrooms, where a wide variety of learning experiences ensures that all learners have equitable opportunities to reach their potential.

ICT outcomes at the P-6 level focus on digital citizenship, communication, productivity and innovation, problem solving, decision making, technology operations/concepts and coding.
