The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) and schools in the SRCE use several communication platforms, including print, online (e.g., websites, SchoolMessenger) and social media accounts, to regularly share information with families and school communities.
The SRCE and schools may choose to use applicable social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube) for educational purposes, providing additional ways to:
• share and celebrate relevant news, events and activities;
• offer timely updates and essential information;
• enhance communication with families and community members; and
• raise awareness on a variety of school-based, regional and provincial initiatives.
Schools will share their respective communications plan with families at the beginning of the school year.
Engagement
The use of social media accounts is to support further engagement with school community members in a positive and professional manner while supporting safe, equitable and inclusive learning and work environments. Please be respectful with feedback and/or posts. Personal attacks, inappropriate comments and misinformation will be removed.
The Strait Regional Centre for Education and schools in the SRCE reserve the right to remove any users from the applicable account or group as required and report the user to the appropriate platform.

Social media accounts are hosted by third-party service providers and are therefore outside the control of the Strait Regional Centre of Education. It is the responsibility of the user to read the service provider’s privacy statement and user agreement before signing up for these services. The SRCE is not responsible for the information on, or links to, third-party websites, ads, products or services. The user accesses this information at their own risk.
As a best practice, users should avoid sharing or posting personal information about themselves or others on these platforms.
