Congratulations to Students and Award Recipients of the 25th Strait Regional Science Fair 2026
Congratulations to all students and award recipients who took part in the 25th year of the Strait Regional Science Fair held on April 8, 2026, at the Nova Scotia Community College, Strait Area Campus.
The Science Fair was held in a hybrid format with 32 students participating virtually and 119 students participating in-person, an impressive showcase and celebration of 106 science-based projects.

Special congratulations to the following grand prize award winners:
Grand Prize Best in Fair: Yashita Ghore, Grade 11; Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School; Project – Under the Ultraviolet: Testing the Limits of Microbial Survival
Grand Prize 2nd Overall: Nolan MacDougall, Grade 10; Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School; Project – Testing a Kalman Filter on Consumer Radon Sensor Data
Grand Prize 3rd Overall: Brooklyn Hanhams, Grade 12; Fanning Education Centre/Canso Academy; Project – Effect of Various Tissue Depths on the Detection of Congenital Defects Through Light Imaging
The three grand prize winners will attend the Canada Wide Science Fair scheduled for
May 23 to 30, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta.
