The SRCE recognizes and endorses the basic right of all students to full and equal participation in education.                            

Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age, or mental or physical disability.

 The SRCE also recognizes a student’s right to Inclusive Education.

  • Inclusive education embodies beliefs, attitudes, and values that promote “the basic right of all students to receive appropriate and quality education programming and services in the company of their peers.”

  • The service delivery model emphasizes teamwork, collaboration, and co-operation in the provision of a continuum of programming options to meet student needs.

  • Parents and students are active participants in the program planning process. Student Planning teams use a collaborative problem-solving approach to address the programming and support service needs of individual students.

  • The SRCE works within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework that ensures effective instruction, assessment, and support for all students with a focus on well-being and achievement. Throughout Tiers 1, 2 and 3, instructional practices, supports, and interventions are flexible, responsive, and matched to students’ strengths, interests, and challenges relative to well-being and achievement.
